Dr. Mitchell is a native of New York. Following his residency, he completed his plastic surgery fellowship at Rush-Presbyterian – St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, followed by a second fellowship in cosmetic surgery at the Zollman Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dr. Mitchell is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Mitchell has been published in the peer-reviewed journal, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and has presented his work at regional and international meetings.
